10 tips to help you create a capsule wardrobe

1. Take a look at your current wardrobe and pick out what you already love and wear
2. Think about what season it is and the type of clothes you’ll need now and for the next few months ahead
3. Take a look at your lifestyle, how do you spend your time and what is your go to style for each aspect of your life
4. Stay strong, pull out those items you rarely wear, the sale bargain still with the label on and those pieces that just don’t quite fit anymore
5. Be true to you, it’s your wardrobe. You can be a “follower of fashion” whilst still remaining comfortable in your own style preferences
6. Are you over-run with accessories? Claim back your storage space and work out what you love and actually use and wear.
7. Decide on your basics and invest in them. These could be a vest and pair of jeans, a white t-shirt, oversized blazer or flowy skirt and denim jacket.. it’s up to you!
8. Don’t get overwhelmed with print and colours! If you’ve never been comfortable in a bright floral print, it’s likely you’re not going to be so choose what colours make you happy!
9. Sell, donate or dispose – you are decluttering for a reason so don’t hang on to the items that you’ve decided have got to go!
10. Don’t rush the process! Building a capsule wardrobe takes time and consideration. Don’t pile on the pressure and feel you need the perfect clothes portfolio in one go!
